Georgia is country that has countless tourism resources and therefore, tourism must be mentioned as
a facilitator of country’s economic development and stability. So the studing of healath-Spa tourism is
very relevant.
The main goal of the research is to study Spa tourism in Tbilisi and Kakheti, the situation at the
resorts and Spa-centres, level of serving, the offered products and market conditions, as well as
comparing the conditions, disadvantages and advantages we have in this industry with
international experiences.
In order to achieve the goal the following tasks were accomplished: introducing the terms related
to Health and Spa tourism; a brief historical overview about the origin of the health and spa
tourism in the world and in Georgia; analysis of the legislative system and statistics; interviewing
the population of Tbilisi and Kakheti.
As an object of the research is taken the Spa-centres of Tbilisi and Kakheti, the resoures that are
available here, importance of their development and opportunities. Moreover, the hampering
factors are analized.
