Abstract
An increase of importance of English as an international language poses challenges in the
science of pedagogy. Gradual changes of approaches, methods, ways and means of teaching take
place in the language learning process. Different educational systems successfully adapt them in
some ways but some of these are rejected as well.
The priority of our educational system should and must be the language (and not only) learner’s
lacks, needs and interests. English teachers tend to make the teaching/learning process much
more harmonious, communicative, joyful and amusing, especially for adolescents. Accordingly,
we reckon that our research is topical.
We’ve taken into consideration how English grammar is taught at Georgian schools. The matter
of how effectively English songs and Jazz chants are used in this way (if they are used at all) at
basic school is the main object of our research. Throughout Georgia we have no data for the
same kind of research, so we deem our results will be innovative.
We will use methods of both qualitative and quantitative researches. On the basis of the results
of theoretical and empirical researches and surveys, our aim is to evaluate how useful and
helpful these attractive and valuable materials are in the process of teaching and learning at
contemporary Georgian schools where Georgian students are expected to be actively engaged in
the language learning process.
