Abstract
The work presents an analysis of Hans Georg Gadamer’s philosophical hermeneutics which serves as a basis for his aesthetic conception. Principal statements of Gadamer’s hermeneutics and the premises of his philosophical hermeneutics are in the center of the research carried out in the dissertation.Therefore, the problem of eternity of art is discussed from the aesthetic-historical aspect. Gadamer does not demand novelty, he is interested in comprehension, re-interpretation of an already uttered word. The essence of his main work “Truth and Method” consists in arguing that there is not and cannot be a method which employs the truth, that there are no criteria of indubitability in philosophy. By means of such an attitude he shifts the issue of philosophical hermeneutics from a methodological aspectto an ontological one; due to this move, art as a possibility of comprehending experience becomes an initial point. The objective of the presented work is to once more focus attention and reflect on such actual issues of contemporary art as: why is art a problem for theoretical thinking? what do we call art? why does the whole sphere of art form part of hermeneutics and what are the anthropological bases of our understanding of art?
