Abstract
Global drug policy is defined by the international conventions and the intergovernmental agreements on cooperation in problematic areas. The process of harmonizing the approach to the problem of drug trafficking is underway in the world today, although it should be noted that the national policy of each country is based on somewhat individual approaches and methodologies in this area, which is due to the regulations, public attitudes and political path. The drug related crime – the issues of criminal law that is related to the fight against the crime, in particular illicit traffic of drugs is regulated by various fields of law. Due to its specificity and importance, the criminal law has a special place in the fight against the drug related crime, which is due to the fact that criminal norms react most strongly to the mentioned antisocial phenomenon. Therefore, criminal law and criminology play an important role in the legal regulation of the fight against crime.
In addition to drug policy analysis, the study reviews recent trends in criminal practice regarding to the drug related crimes. The aim of this study is to compile the assessments on all important policies, documents, legislation and practical aspects of the fight against the drug related crimes. Thus, the actions of law enforcement agencies against the drug related crimes have always been the subject of special attention, which, on the one hand, is caused by a significant social problem, and on the other hand - by the worsening of the criminogenic situation in the country.
This study focuses mainly on the following key issues: the practice of applying the legal norms regulating the fight against the drug related crimes and addressing their flaws, pursuing state policies in the fight against the drug related crimes, and sharing the practice of other countries. As well as determining complex preventive measures to reduce the drug related crimes, whether the drug liberalization will result in to the halt of drug distribution, or a reduction of the drug related crimes.
