The scientific fundamental research of the interesting region for us South-West Georgia, particularly the Upper Adjara region has started recently. The indication of interest in antiquities started at the time of the Ottoman Empire. Regardless of the strict regime and the resistance of that period the part of the Georgian society managed to travel to the region and describe the real situation here. In this case the great assistance was given by the reprezentatives of the local noble surname and estate, ordinary indigenous Georgians. The valuable source of research was created for the study of ancient history and culture.
