European travelers and their information about Shida Kartli

This paper studies the information of Shida Kartli European travelers of the end of the XVIII century and the first quarter of the XIX century who traveled to Georgia. They left us important information including the geographical environment of Shida Kartli, the social structure of the population, their customs, noble ancestors, natural resources, flora and fauna, etc.
In addition to the annotation, introduction and conclusion, the paper consists of five chapters, each chapter dedicated to each traveler (attached list of references).
First of all, short biographical portraits of the named authors (Jacob Rainegs, Eduard Aichwald, Johann Guldenstedt, Jacques François Gamba and Bernard Rotier) are presented with characteristic features, they describe the preconditions that guided the planning and implementation of their trip. The main part is dedicated to the information of European travelers selected for study about Shida Kartli.
The information of German and French travelers is an important first source for studying the history of Shida Kartli, to clarify specific facts and events. The credibility of their information is enhanced by the fact that they are often eyewitnesses to the stories described. The events covered by not infrequently named authors also contain signs of subjectivism.
Comparing the information recorded by foreign travelers with the data of other sources allows us to more accurately reconstruct the epoch of interest to us and its reality in Shida Kartli.
The master thesis is based on the published texts of the authors under review and the analysis of special scientific literature.
