Assessment of the financial sustainability and risks of the health sector in Georgia

Our master's thesis “Assessing the Financial Stability and Risks of the Healthcare Sector in Georgia” focuses on the effectiveness of a number of reforms in the Georgian health care system, the advantages and disadvantages of a universal health care system. Our goal was to study health infrastructure, human resources and public health spending. Therefore, I think the research topic is relevant for us. The purpose of the study is to demonstrate the importance of active communication with medical professionals, local and international health experts in order to ensure transparency of processes at the stage of reform planning, which will contribute to the active involvement of all stakeholders in the planning and implementation of the reform. The subject of the research is the study and analysis of the health care system in Georgia. The object of the research is the activities of specialized and private hospitals operating in the health care system of Georgia, the information is posted on the official websites of the National Statistical Office of Georgia. The main result of our research is that we argue that there is a need to develop a comprehensive health financing strategy. In particular, to define in detail the volume of medical services that will be fully funded by the state and which will be balanced by real possibilities. The novelty of our study is its demonstration that the development of the primary health care system is critical to control the financial sustainability and growth of the health care system. At the same time, it is important to invest more financial resources in preventive services in order to strengthen primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of diseases with the highest burden of morbidity and mortality, and, as a result, to protect populations with chronic diseases from catastrophic health conditions. care costs.
