The aim of the presented Master’s project is to present one of the distinctive specimens of Georgian wall painting: The painting of Church of Maghalaant located in Shida Kartli, here are two layers, different from each other, both in terms of painting and time of origin. Study of Art by means of the History of Art and Historical and Source Survey will give us the possibility to examine the painting and specify the date of painting of early layer. We will determine personal identity of the kept frescos, iconographic program and stylistic characteristics. On the basis of XII-XIII centuries historical-cultural peculiarities of Kartli Art School we will be able to define its place in the history of Georgian wall painting and its relation to Georgian and generally to Christian art.
