Relation between Russia and Siria in the middle east’s geopolitical context

This region has become a major source of clashes between the interests of the superpowers. Almost all the conflicts and confrontations in the region have been inspired by them.The goal of the USSR, and then its successor, to maintain influence in the region, is still clear. Syria is considered to pursue Russia's interests in the Middle East, which shares the policies of that country and establishes a close partnership with it.
The purpose of this paper is to examine what has led to the formation of relations between Syria and Russia, what is the contribution of the Western factor to the development of these relations and what interests Russia in deepening its relations with Syria.
