The peaceful regulation of a conflict helping the third party person in Georgia is known for a long time. Mediation is one of the method of resolving disputes/disagreements known as Alternative Dispute Resolution. Mediation is a process of arrangement, where mediator, a neutral person, assists the confronted parties, or their representatives to settle the conflict, formed between them. In my thesis for master’s degree will be accented the historical development of mediation and its importance, will be discussed family mediation, its advantages and disadvantages. I will describe the Georgian and Canadian models of mediation. You will learn more about the historical moments of the Georgian mediation development and compulsory court mediation based on the examples of the Georgian and Canadian models. In my work I have presented the statistics of the number of cases submitted to the mediations since the establishment of the Mediation Center of the Tbilisi City Court, particularly from 2013 to the present day, which I requested from the Tbilisi City Court. The aim of this thesis is to analyze compulsory and family mediation development and to introduce its advantages to the society, as well as to work out the legal, practical and theoretical recommendations, which will be equally interesting for lawyers and for people interested in mediation.
