The main purpose of this thesis is to review the issue of protection and relation of freedom of speech and expression and the honor and dignity right on social media. Social media is the most widespread and growing means of communication today. Social media is an integral part of modern life, its impact on today’s world is quite big. The number of social media users in the world units billions of people, including celebrities, leaders who actively use social networks.
Social media is a space where a lot of people gather, express their opinion, share / disseminate information, express ideas, make assessments and etc., therefore, the fact of the violation of the human rights have been revealed over times. Such development of social media has raised the issue of legal regulation of this field and its use within reasonable limits.
In view of the above, as the freedom of speech and expression and the honor and dignity rights are often violated on social media, this thesis will address important issues such as the legal review of non-property rights, protection and relation of freedom of speech and expression and honor and dignity rights and the need for their balance. These issues will be reviewed based on a comparative analysis of both, Georgian and international practice and the legislative model.
