Juvenile justice reform in Georgia

The best interest of the juvenile protection in our country is the basic principle of juvenile justice implementation.
A certain part of the generalized crimes in the society are commited by juveniles, therefore, it is most important to establish such standards and mechanisms, which will ensure a particularly specialized aproach for the juveniles, who are in confict with the law.
The highest risk for committing a crime is during minority period. Accordingly, the law must be so improved and corresponding to the international standarts that the crimes committed at this age, should make the chids’s life as painless as possible.
The system of Juvenile is very sensitive. A lot of juveniles spend their childhood not with their family, but at the penitentiary facilities. Such environment promotes commission of a nes offense, not correction.
In our country there is already a juvenile justice code that covers issues related to criminal liability, criminal prosecution and penitentiary system towards juveniles.
The goal of the work is to doscuss several problematic issues of criminal responsibilities of Juveniles in order to present positive and negative aspects of the Coe of Juvenile Justice.
