Abstract
Master thesis, PR Role in Media Organization Development, is thesis for academic degree of
Masters which is completed within the framework of Master's Educational Program
“Organization Development and Counseling” of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
“Create a good reputation and it will work for you” - this famous quote belongs to the
Chinese philosopher Confucius. Good reputation and image in most cases is caused by the
effective PR.
PR is communication, which itself has the biggest role in any structure, everyday life, or
relationships. We learn what the person wants to say and what they want to get in response.
Nowadays communication means PR and public relations, which originated in the end of the

century in Georgia. During the last decades there are almost no company who does not
have PR and Marketing department. Most of them at least have PR departments.

Among them we see PR departments in media organizations, however it is essential to know
what is the role of PR as communication type in the development and success of media
organizations. (Because, as you know, media organizations are PR platforms themselves)
From the following paper we will find out what does PR means for media organizations,
what techniques and methods are used by them to create company image, what are
similarities/differences between the PR strategies of different media outlets and how the public
opinion affects the company, and its staff.
