Abstract
The article examines the Abkhazian legend about Abrskil and makes an attempt to rethink several of its motives. It is assumed that in the fight of the epic hero against representatives of the fair-haired, blue-eyed people, the struggle of the Abkhaz migrants against the local Mingrelian population is reflected. In the legend, Abkhazians bear the signs of an ethnic group that is culturally different from the local residents.
