Abstract
Migration processes are important in any part of the world. The states determine their
domestic and foreign policy according to migratory flows. As all the positive and negative
events taking place in the country, are changing the number of population, and on the
contrary, these events affect the population migration.
The role of migration in Georgian history is exceptional. As a result of significant
geopolitical and strategic locations, the population of the country willingly or unwillingly
migrated from within the country as well as outside. Migration processes have become more
active since the 1990s. Since then, Georgia has become a country of emigration, and from
which the population of working age started to flow out.
This master's thesis aims to study the socio-economic aspects of international student
migration in Georgia. All the popular theories will be considered to explain the motives and
causes of migrations in the world. We also see that despite the mood/attitude that Georgia is
a country of emigration, there are social groups, which, on the contrary, are interested in our
country, and their flows are growing at a moderate pace of year-to-year.
