With the increased trend of financing start-ups, it has become necessary to assess the efficiency of investments. Since start-ups are funded by different investors, it is interesting to identify the purpose, efficiency and management of the raised money. The main purpose of the paper is to demonstrate the possible correlation in terms of risks and targeted use of money, which are characterized by these variables.
The paper reviews the researches of different authors, who discuss people’s attitude to risk based on different theories and from different points of view.
A survey was carried out to reveal how risky the decisions about spending own or raised money are. The people surveyed had a chance to express their attitude to risk through different types of questions.
The research also included a part of the experiment that was presented as a situational example, which made it clear how circumstances affect decision making.
Based on the results, the main focus group was the people who changed their choice depending on the source of money. Based on the interpretation of results, several hypotheses have been formed, which are strengthened or rejected by regressive analysis.
