MA thesis deals with issues of the royal ceremonies of medieval Georgia. They had an important role in the middle ages. Several ceremonies are discussed here and overall thesis consists of preface, main part and conclusion. The main part of thesis is divided in seven chapters. The first chapter is about the royal ceremomy of coronation. Second chapter is concerning ceremonies of the royal court (darbazi). Third chapter deals with the issue of the royal banquet, which could be defined as a continuation of previous section. Forth chapter is about appointment ceremony of court officials. Fifth chapter included information on royal clothing of the Georgian sovereigns. Sixth chapter deals with the issue of reception of foreign ambassadors and guests. The last chapter is about the ceremony of royal funeral.
The aim of our thesis is to collect and consider all available information about the royal ceremonies. The topic is significant as it clearly demonstrates the political and the cultural condition of the royal court. It also demonstrates how much society was developed in the middle ages. Discussion on these issues seems to be original approach to the topic just as all these royal ceremonies of medieval Georgian has never been examined utterly in the Georgian historiography. Hence, this is the first attempt to collect all necessary information for analyzes, as much as sources are available, and as a result to draw some conclusions.
