Abstract
This year, the 59th International Art Exhibition „La Biennale di Venezia“ unlike any other biennales, offers us a three-year summary of art history. At the Biennale, Georgian artists Mariam Natroshvili, and Detu Jincharadze displayed their work „I Pity the Garden“. The Tbilisi-based artist-duo presented a HiTech Installation: a self-generating video and surreal, immersive, simultaneous work presented through VR. How is this artwork influencing modern art, and what role does it play in the overall context?
At the 59th Biennale, the Georgian pavilion has an industrial interior, where digital wind sounds are playing. It is the sound of emptiness, loneliness, and the post-apocalyptic state.
Sometimes virtual reality is more real than real/our reality because we are in a world created by someone else. This world has its own space and time; however, there is no horizon line, beginning, or end. With this new medium, artists presented a time capsule, time stratigraphy; we are in our past, present, and future all at the same time. This makes the expected changes in the cultural landscape even more intense.
