Abstract
Kartvelian and Abkhazian-Adighe world neighborhood goes back to many centuries. Mingrelian kin of the Kartvelian people have had the closest relationships with the Abkhazian-Adighe (North-Western Caucasian) world. It’s why the words specific for the North-Western neighboring tribes and ethnical groups, showing their relationships survived in their speech. Relationships with Abkhazia appear in words and expressions applied in other Georgian regions. The Mingrelian language contains Jig-Jigck and Chargaz-cherkez roots containing words. A word “Abkhazian” is interpreted the various ways in Georgian dialects.
The materials given in this article show North-Western Caucasian stereotypic perception in the Mingrelian language. This stereotype is of a negative nature in most cases and implies a violator, destructor, tough, abuser or a person possessing a great force. Abkhazian implies a quick-tempered, deft, atrocious, wicked in some Georgian dialects, while in the Mingrelian language (Abkhaza) it is a synonym of a polite, overly ceremonious person.
