Abstract
This paper discusses the settlement of the Ossetian population in the Ksani gorge (Akhalgori region) and compact settlements.
In the current circumstances, when history is being actively falsified by various forces and it is presented as if the so-called "South Ossetian" and the Akhalgori region united in it is the ancient heritage site of the Ossetian ethnos, we have considered the gorge at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. , In ethnic terms.
Due to the urgency of the issue, we considered it necessary to specify the time of the settlement of the Ossetian population in the valley and based on the documentary material, we presented their number in specific numbers. We have discussed the list of Ksani Ossetian households of the second half of the 18th century, the description of Ioane Batonishvili's 1803 Saeristavo of Ksani and the data of the first Russian chamber census conducted in 1804.
In the paper we will consistently discuss and touch on the past of Ksani gorge, living conditions, we will talk about Saeristavoof Ksani. We will briefly review the Georgian ethnographic corner of Dvaleti, from where the Ossetian masses settled in the Kartli Mountains and which is currently located beyond the northern border of Georgia. We will also talk about the creation of Ossetian new settlements in the Kartli highlands and discuss in more detail the Ksani gorge and its tributaries. There are Jamuri, Karchokhi, Tschurta, Tskhrazma, Alevi Where the establishment of the Ossetian ethnic element was carried out relatively late.
