Abstract
In today’s reality, human trafficking is one of the most important global problems that can be found in every country and region of the world. During trafficking, human resources are used by traffickers to achieve their own profit and purpose. Hiring, transportation, sexual exploitation, transfer, sheltering human with violence, fraud or deception for their own purposes are meant with the term “trafficking”. People of all genders, ages and backgrounds can become victims of trafficking.
The number of victims of trafficking is increasing every year. There are about 25 million cases of trafficking in the world. A small proportion of officially registered trafficking cases have been identified. Men, women and children, regardless of age and origin, can be trafficked to any region of the world. Traffickers use violence, fraudulent employment schemes, and false promises about education and jobs to deceive victims. Organized trafficking networks or groups of people, which are behind the profitable crime, benefit from vulnerable, desperate or better-looking people.
All countries of the world are involved in the fight against human trafficking. Trafficking is defined in the UN Trafficking Protocol, which is set out in the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime. The issue of human trafficking is also very problematic in Georgia, which is due to the important geopolitical location of the country and the difficult economic situation. Therefore, Georgia is considered a country of origin and transit for victims of trafficking. The increase in human trafficking cases among Georgian citizens is facilitated by the economic situation of the country, the low level of awareness about the risks of education and trafficking. In addition, a large part of the population of Georgia - more than a million people have gone abroad in search of work. Most of them work and live illegally in a foreign country. Due to the above, there is a high risk that such people will be involved in the list of victims of trafficking...
