Abstract
Foregoing work is prepared for the purpose of analyzing the soft power of
Russian politics towards Georgia, which has pro-European policy and is in a
resistance to the interests of Russia in the region. Lately, in spite of the steps toward
integration in the Euro Atlantic space, on the basis of reducing pro-western mood
having having faith in pro-Russian feelings became more noticeable.
The research mainly covered the period of 2012-2018 years and was based on
the following hypothesis that the increase of Russian soft power in Georgia has led to
a reduction of pro-western sentiments. The research examines why Russia remains
attractive in light of the fact that it uses hard power towards Georgia and occupies
20% of its territories. Qualitative methods of research have been used to analyze the
problem: analysis of secondary sources and interview with experts.
The research showed, increasing of the Euroscepticism in Georgia, was caused
because of activating the Russian soft power politics, which was simulated by Russian
Anti-Western politics, as well as ongoing domestic events. There is clearly a problem
of awareness among the Georgian population that is responsible for the formation of
incorrect expectations. In the work there is an extra focus about the features of
Russian soft power and its tools, also the factors, which allow soft power of Kremlin
to operate and on the other hand limits its potential.
