Abstract
The title of my master's thesis is "Lexical-Semantic Analysis of the Phraseological Foundation in the English and Georgian Languages"
The importance and relevance of phraseology in linguistics, in particular lexicology, are well known. Phraseological units have always been a subject of special interest and research for linguists. It is still difficult to classify them accurately and unambiguously, as vocabulary is the most flexible and variable part of a language.
Phraseologies are one of the most powerful means of enriching a language and are the clearest examples of intermingling and enrichment of different cultures. Therefore, it is self-evident that this issue is very relevant for any language specialist, especially now, in the XXI century, in the context of globalization.
The Georgian language has a very rich and diverse vocabulary. In terms of vocabulary, the Georgian language stands next to the most developed languages in the world. Texts of any types and content can be translated into Georgian.
The same is true for English. In the practice of translation, taking phraseological units from one language into another, is actual.
The aim of the presented paper is to gather the opinion of language researchers about phraseologies, to familiarize readers with phraseologies, to study how linguists classify phraseologies, and to show what role phraseologies play in the process of language enrichment.
My master work is one of the attempts to make a semantic classification of Georgian-English phraseological units and their corresponding translations.
