Abstract
The paper analyses some psychical diseases described in Ajara. Their existance was explained as a result of various reasons, one of them was „scaring”. The paper discusses the beliefes related to the deciseases, their reasons and their treatment methods. The ethno graphic data collected in Ajara are compared to the data of the other reagons of Georgia. The main attention is paid to magicalreligious practices as a healing method. It is evident that Islam impacted preIs lamic, traditional attitudes and methods in Ajara.
