Presented work refers to studying the onomatology of the village Kvemo Khviti of Gori Municipality, which is distinguished with the historic past. Based on the documentary source many interesting facts are covered.
work will help the interested persons to research and study better onomatology of Shida Kartli. We all know, that over the last several decades, interest to the one of the fields of linguistics, namely towards the onomastics has increased. We think, that with the present work we will make a small contribution in the study of onomatology and in recording and researching, our country’s rich onomastic material.
The aim of the research was to get acquainted with the onomastic material preserved in the village of Kvemo Khviti and represent it in the work. It contains the oldest rules of the village, names and surnames, especially we draw our attention to the toponyms and anthroponyms (nicknames). First of all, it was necessary to record the corresponding material, and then classification and linguistic analysis of this material. In the work, we represented and analyzed materials, which we obtained during the field work and in the historical documents. The material for the analysis is retrieved by us.
Depending on the purpose of the research, the descriptive and historical-comparative method is used.
