Abstract
Georgia - one of the oldest countries in the world passed a long historical process of state development and today is an independent sovereign state. In its history, Georgia has always maintained its territorial integrity and ensuring security and stability on its borders, due to its geopolitical location.
The issue of borders and territorial ownership created a peaceful situation and prevented diplomatic relations between Georgia and its neighbors. The problematic issue in the First World War was demarcation-delimitation of the borders. In May 1918, three independent states were established in the South Caucasus: Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. Before the newly formed State, first of all, the issue of territorial separation and state boundaries was raised because the territorial integrity of the independent sovereign state was determined. The full demarcation of the borders had not yet been resolved, when in February 1921 the Democratic Republic of Georgia was defeated in the Red Army and established a Soviet system in Tbilisi. The status of Georgia's democratic republic has changed and turned into the Soviet Socialist Republic of Georgia (USSR). The question of determining borders became Russia's prerogative.
Since 1991, Georgia has regained its independence, Georgia has been fighting against it and struggles with the distribution of borders. From 2148 km of the state border of Georgia, only about 13%, or 275 km is demarcated and delimited. The delimitation of the border was a long and difficult process for the state, because it depends on resolving inter-state diplomatic relations and protection of state sovereignty.
