Abstract
The work is an attempt to define the ceramic production standards on Grakliani Gora, in the Late Bronze - Early Iron Age and in the Achaemenid Period. To achieve this purpose, it’s used ceramic materials from the settlement and from the necropolis. Namely, the units that are more or less completely preserved and allow to determine the size of the vessel. The volume is taken as the main object of the research, since the existence of volume units in the society speaks a lot of things about its level of development. Along with the volume, there are defined other metric features of each vessel. Certain groups of the vessels are separated according to their morphological characteristics and the general statistical data is included in addition. There is an attempt to establish some regularities. Based on the analysis of the data, we can assume if there were defined standards of ceramic production on the Grakliani Gora in the given periods of time and what is the connection between the standards of this two periods. Also it will help us to see, if there are common signs with the known standards of neighboring regions. All these things will assist to clarify the development level of population of Grakliani Gora and in general the Eastern Georgia. The importance of this paper is determined by the rarity of this type of researches in the Georgian Archaeology. Therefore, many of the issues, related to the economic and cultural development of the population living on the territory of Eastern Georgia in the given periods, remain unrevealed.
