Abstract

To eradicate problems of unemployment and poverty country’s economy needs development of business – more production of goods and supplies of services. In this respect, role of SMEs and the need of development of small businesses are significant. Promoting small business development can contribute to prosperity and well-being of the whole population. In our country SMEs establishment process has encountered many obstacles such as market stability and imperfection, low level of investment and credit attractiveness, existence of monopolists, low level of savings rate among population, unskilled labor force, etc. As a result SMEs produce less than the quarter of Georgian GDP. Banks and Credit Institutions play an important role in countering some of these problems. Research Topic of Master’s Thesis: Main direction of research was role of Banks and other credit institutions in fostering SME growth in developing countries and specifically in Georgia as well as factors promoting SME sector and contributing to its sustainable development.
