Abstract
Last few years there have been very interesting phenomenon happening in Egypt and Iraq. For many years they had authoritarian regime, which was a serious obstacle to democracy. In these two countries transition from authoritarianism to other regimes took place in different times and circumstances
Breakdown of authoritarian regime in Iraq was the result of the military operations carried out by the USA and its coalition. Ever though in Iraq authoritarianism was defeated, democratic process was not implemented.
Egypt is one of the Near East countries which had been under an authoritarian regime for many years. Unlike Iraq, in Egypt old regime was defeated by the Arab spring. However these actions did not led Egypt to democracy as it was expected.
