Abstract
Saudi Arabia is one of the largest countries in the Middle East and plays an important role in the region. It has a well-defined foreign policy inside the region as well as beyond its borders. The country has serious competitors in the Middle East, Iran and Turkey, which also claim to have a leading role in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia is trying to emphasize its special role in the Gulf region not only on account of its large territory, but also its politics because of its leading postition in economical and military areas. Foreign policy of Saudi Arabia is also a priority for Western Europe and USA. Despite the fact that this country is an absolute monarchy and an islamic state, it has close relationship and active cooperation with these regions in different fields of activity. However, based on the fact that Saudi Arabia is an Islamic state and its democratic principles face serious problems, the active course of its foreign policy is less effective than in the European countries and USA.
