Abstract
Given MA dissertation “The Facebook Post - The Tool for Representing Topical Issues of
Modernity” – aims to illustrate contemporary social media trends. Precisely, to discuss How
effective is the Facebook Post for spreading one’s views and what role does it play in informing
the public.
The major part of the research focuses on the study of the actualized topics through online
posts. The dissertation discusses criteria that unites the Facebook users in the online space. The
special focus will be put on the relationship between the topics that are heavily emphasized in
Social Networks and those having problematic relevance offline, in everyday life.
As the dissertation found its base in the framework of Mass Communication and Media
Research, the study puts particular accent to the linkages between the “Agenda Setting” formed
by the “Opinion Leaders” on Facebook and “Agenda Setting” by Traditional Media.
Accordingly, the cause-effect linkage on the base of which the “Facebook Statues” gathering
prominent attention in the society will be studied.
Furthermore, the study has been conducted through the Rhetorical/Semiotic analysis and
partially structured interview research methods. The research period includes recent 3 months
– April-June 2019. The selection of the research subjects was conditioned by four major criteria:
field competency, the great number of followers on Facebook, the intensively of posting on
Facebook,the actualization degree of the topical issues.
