არ შემდგარი დემოკრატია: ლიბია დიპლომატია და საერთაშორისო პოლიტიკა

The main purpose of this paper is to examine the attempt at establishing democracy in Libya and
explain to why it failed. Hence, arises the research question: why couldn’t democracy be established
in Libya? Paper uses journalistic, research-based and primary source information to answer this
question, which allows the specification of hypothesis only at the end of the research, after all the
empirical data are collected. Based on the research results, following hypothesis is generated: in
Libya, just as any other Islamic country, democracy could never be established, because two
ideologies go against each other. For testing the hypothesis Liberalism theory is applied, which finds
democracy to be a consequence of political tradition, and not a successful intervention of outside
force
