The paper reviews foreign direct investment (FDI) motivations and their impact on recipient country’s economy (example of Georgia). The main motivations for foreign direct investments in Georgia and their impact on the economy, the degree of linkages with the local and multinational companies and the possibilities of absorption the benefit from foreign direct investments - taken into account the sector and country’s characteristics - are revealed on the basis of empirical research.
