Abstract
Archil Djordjadze is a famous political figure, publicist, public thinking history researcher and the main purpose of this work is a literary criticism of his heritage. Critic expressed notable opinions about Georgian romantics, specifically – about Alexander Tchavtchavadze and Nikoloz Baratashvili’s heritage. Archil Djordjadze deemed unacceptable discussing great artist’s poetry unilaterally, deriving characteristics of their work from environmental conditions and social-political situations. It is a necessity to study the nature of a poet, creative processes of his/her temperament for poetic reality to manifest itself more objectively and in depth. Nikoloz Baratashvili is also described by Archil Djordjadze as an outstanding poet, genius creator. For understanding Baratashvili’s genius, Ilia’s view towards general, universal pain is more acceptable for Archil Djordjadze, then dire political environment of Georgia, during which Nikoloz Baratashvili was active.
Archil Djordjadze gave honorable mention to “Tsiskari” (dawn) in researching and studying history of Georgian public opinion in 50s. Great merit of “Tsiskari” is publishing of “The stronghold of Surami” and “Solomon Medjganuashvili, the son of Isaac”.
Archil Djordjadze vastly considered Ilia Tchavtchavadze as a developer of Georgian historical thinking. He discussed the work, where writer’s national ideals are clearly defined. Ideals, which, according to Archil Djordjadze are genius, always progressive and ahead of its time. Archil Djordjadze specifically rated Ilia’s stories: “letters of a traveler” and “Katsia-Adamiani” (is a man a human?!).
