We translated one part from his work „Journey in the Caucasus, Persia and Turkey in Asia” (Leipzig, 1875) where he gives a common characterization of Caucasus. The author describes the population and divides it into two main parts _ mountainous and of lowland, citizens and country people, their social rank. Thielmann recites administrative unity with numbers of their population and largeness of occupied area.
