ერნესტ ჰემინგუეის მცირე პროზის ტრანსფორმაცია ქართულ თარგმანში

Abstract

This doctoral thesis presents an analysis and the results of original research. It discusses Georgian translations of Ernest Hemingway short fiction based on ascertained and valid criteria of translation evaluation. The study described in the thesis manifests certain strategies of the Georgian translations and the conceptual framework upon which the translators have built their methods and procedures taking account of the theories and translation policy relevant to the time of translation. Accordingly, the thesis scrutinizes style and content of several Hemingway short stories and conveys a philological analysis of foregrounded features of style and content rendering into Georgian. The theoretical foundations for this research are linguistic and stylistic state of the art theories. The comparative and contrastive analysis reveals the complexities of the language of short stories, equivalence as well as the problem of accuracy of their Georgian translations. As a result, the necessity of specifying relevant strategy for translating Hemingway’s short stories is evident, while a different approach to the process of translating his fiction in general can be tangible. The study of the Georgian translations of Hemingway’s works leads to turning the assumptions into generalization and to elaborating a methodology that triggers equivalent and consistent translation. Consequently, the objective of the thesis is a scholarly substantiation of translation evaluation.

ნაშრომი წარმოადგენს ერნესტ ჰემინგუეის მცირე პროზის ქართული თარგმანების ანალიზს, რომელიც ეფუძნება თარგმანის შეფასების სათანადო კრიტერიუმებს. დისერტაციაში გაშლილი კვლევა გვიჩვენებს ქართული თარგმანების სტრატეგიას, იმ თეორიულ ჩარჩოს, რომელსაც ემყარება მთარგმნელების მიერ შერჩეული თარგმნის მეთოდი და პროცედურები, თარგმნის დროს დამკვიდრებული თეორიებისა და თარგმანის პოლიტიკის გათვალისწინებით. აქედან გამომდინარე, ნაშრომში შესწავლილია ერნესტ ჰემინგუეის რამდენიმე მოთხრობის სტილი და შინაარსობრივი კატეგორიები, წარმოდგენილია მათი ქართულად ტრანსფორმაციის თავისებურებების ანალიზი, რომელიც ეყრდნობა თანამედროვე ლინგვისტიკურ და სტილისტიკურ თეორიებს. შედარებით-შეპირისპირებითი კვლევა გამოკვეთს ჰემინგუეის ენის სირთულეს, ქართული თარგმანის როგორც ეკვივალენტობას, ისე სიზუსტის პრობლემას. ამის კვალობაზე ჩნდება ჰემინგუეის მოთხრობების ქართულად თარგმნის რელევანტური სტრატეგიის შერჩევის აუცილებლობა და მწერლის მხატვრული ტექსტის თარგმნის პროცესისადმი განსხვავებული დამოკიდებულება. ჰემინგუეის ქართული თარგმანების შესწავლა განსაზღვრავს დებულებების განზოგადებასა და იმ მეთოდოლოგიის შემუშავებას, რომელიც განაპირობებს ეკვივალენტურ და ზუსტ მხატვრულ თარგმანს. მაშასადამე, დისერტაციის მიზანი არის თარგმანის შეფასების მეცნიერული დასაბუთება.
